Exchange Club observes Child Abuse Prevention Month

The Exchange Club of Gurnee observed Child Abuse Prevention Month in April with a speaker, Carrie Wings from the Lake County Children's Advocacy Center, and by making a donation to the center facility dog Mitchell, a yellow Labrador retriever.

Mitchell's primary role is to comfort and provide compassion to child victims who are interviewed at the center. The center, operated in conjunction with the State's Attorney Michael Nerheim's office, assists with the investigation and prosecution of crimes involving the abuse of children.

The Exchange is a service organization working together to make communities better places through programs of service in Americanism, community service, youth activities, and its national project, the prevention of child abuse.
