Ways the Community Can Get Involved in Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month

April kicks off Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month, an observance dedicated to the wellbeing of animals. As a company committed to helping people live happier and safer with their pets, local Chicago business offers ways for community to get involved.

Raising Awareness for Animal Cruelty

Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month addresses several issues facing animals including pets abandoned to shelters. According to the ASPCA, over 6.5 million pets enter shelters every year. Only 23% of dogs are adopted from shelters and humane societies.

To raise awareness for shelter adoptions and say "thank you" to staff and volunteers who dedicate time to these animals year-round, Invisible Fence® Brand is hosting a national Shelter Donation Giveaway on Facebook where the public can nominate their local shelter for a chance to win a $3,000 donation. Nominations will be accepted for the entire month of April; April 1 through April 30.

Chicago Dog in Need of Community Support

A local Chicago dog named Shena is prime example of shelter animals in need of the community's support. She has lived in a shelter for over a year after being victim of neglect. And despite winning the hearts of thousands after Invisible Fence of Chicagoland's Facebook post goes viral, Shena is still seeking a family to adopt her. Invisible Fence is asking the community to help raise awareness for her and other pets at Animal House Shelter, a non-profit, no-kill shelter in Huntley, IL.
