Fig Factor Foundation celebrates Young Latina Day

Seven area cities, including Aurora, Bartlett, Bolingbrook, Hanover Park and West Chicago, are participating in a Young Latina Day Celebration sponsored by the Fig Factor Foundation.

Organizers say the nonprofit group's mission is to help young Latinas pursue their dreams by providing educational leadership platforms, mentorship and powerful experiences.

The foundation is planning a series of small events in each participating city on Thursday, April 11, that leads to a celebration finale in Berwyn. Participants will do an activity at each of the stops, where the cities are expected to conduct a small welcoming event.

The schedule is as follows:

• 9 a.m. in Bolingbrook.

• 10 a.m. in Chicago.

• 11 a.m. in West Chicago.

• Noon in Hanover Park.

• 1 p.m. in Bartlett.

• 2 p.m. in Aurora.

• 4 p.m. in Berwyn.

Organizers say the event will celebrate Latinas ages 12 to 25 and their dreams by spotlighting their future impact in local Hispanic communities.

The Fig Factor Foundation was founded in September 2014 with a goal of implementing the program nationwide and then expanding globally.
