How to get a discounted Independence Grove beach pass
Season passes to the swimming beach at Independence Grove Forest Preserve in Libertyville are on sale for Lake County residents. Purchase on or before May 1 and receive a 10 percent discount. The pass allows holders unlimited use of the 400-foot sand beach that runs along the South Bay of Independence Grove's 115-acre lake.
Season Beach Pass Rates
$49 for one person, $75 for two, $105 for three, $129 for four, $150 for five or more. All users on one pass must reside in the same household. Copy of birth certificate required for children ages 1-15. Proof of Lake County residency required for each person over age 16.
Purchase beach passes at the Independence Grove Visitors Center. Preserve entrance is on Buckley Road (Route 137) just east of Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21) and west of River Road.

- Weekends only, May 25-June 2 (including Memorial Day)
- Daily, June 3-August 9
- Family Fun Fridays
The beach gets even better on Fridays when we host games, contests and prices around a different theme each week.
Beach Hours
- 10 am-6 pm. Lifeguards are on duty when the beach is open.
Beach is subject to unscheduled closings due to weather and conditions.
An adjacent beach house provides convenient access to washrooms, showers and lockers.
Gift Cards Available
Independence Grove gift cards are also available. Gift cards never expire and can be used for beach admission, umbrella and chair rentals, boat and bike rentals, and parking fee for nonresidents. Buy online or at the Visitors Center.
