British flutist, composer to perform Feb. 17 at Fermilab

On Sunday, Feb. 17, British flutist and composer Ian Clarke will perform with pianist Cindy Trowbridge at 2:30 p.m. in the Ramsey Auditorium at Fermilab, off Pine Street in Batavia.

A professor at the Guildhall School in London, his work has been performed across the globe.

Clarke is acknowledged as one of the leading player/composers in the flute world. His compositions are performed across the globe and these wide-ranging published works have established themselves as some of the most exciting flute repertoire of today and are being embraced by internationally acclaimed performers, syllabuses, teachers, colleges and students alike.

His acclaimed CD "Within" has been one the flute world's best sellers and his album "Deep Blue" reached the top 10 in the UK Classical Artist Chart; thought to be a first for an album of original flute music.

The program will include "Zoom Tube," "Orange Dawn," "Deep Blue," "The Great Train Race," "Spiral Lament," "Hatching Aliens," and "Maya."
