Elgin martial artists recognized at national event
Sixteen students from Kyuki-Do Martial Arts of Elgin advanced in rank before the Promotional Board of the American Kyuki-Do Federation at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center on Nov. 3.
Aproximately 150 candidates tested for ranks ranging from 1st Dan (degree) to 8 Dan (Grandmaster).
The three-day event featured a wide array of martial arts seminars and provided for business break-out sessions.
"This is the 11th year the American Kyuki-Do Federation has utilized the Kalahari and every year the event grows," said federation president Master Jeff Kim.
Attendees congregated from Texas, Georgia, Phoenix, Kentucky, Illinos, Wisconsin and Mexico for theis once a year meeting.
