Highwood Kicks Off The Holiday Season With A Norman Rockwell Holiday Celebration
HIGHWOOD, IL (November 24, 2018) - Celebrate the start of the holidays at Highwood's 5th annual "Celebrate Highwood" tradition as they kick off the 2018 holiday season with their "Norman Rockwell Holiday Celebration" on Saturday, November 24th. Party central will be at City Hall Park (17 Highwood Ave), with participating businesses throughout Downtown Highwood. The celebration will feature a "Norman Rockwell Holiday" potluck, a day and night full of family and adult activities including the Family Cookie Walk, 12 Drinks of Christmas, horse drawn carriage rides, pictures with Santa, s'more making, roasted chestnuts, holiday music, holiday windows contest and more!
A NORMAN ROCKWELL HOLIDAY: 2 - 7 p.m. City Hall Park
City Hall Park will transform into a Normal Rockwell painting as the community comes out to visit with Santa 4 - 5 p.m., enjoy horse drawn carriage rides sponsored by Viti Insurance and Financial, s'more making, roasted chestnuts and festive holiday music. Attendees are encouraged to bring homemade dishes to contribute to the FREE community potluck feast. The City of Highwood tent will be hosting a BBQ of brats, hot dogs and more. All food is FREE of charge. Attendees are encouraged to give back this holiday season and help Highwood collect non-perishable food for Moraine Township Food Pantry to help others in the community. Drop off at City Hall Park.
The Celebrate Highwood booth will also host a cash bar, which will be the first stop on the 12 Drinks of Christmas tour.
FAMILY COOKIE WALK: 2 - 5 p.m. Downtown Highwood
The Family Cookie Walk returns, where kids can collect delicious holiday cookies (and decorate some too!) at businesses throughout Downtown Highwood. Pick up a map of the Cookie Walk stops at the Highwood Chamber of Commerce booth in City Hall Park to enjoy holiday cookie treats.
12 DRINKS OF CHRISTMAS: 2 p.m. to close, Downtown Highwood
Highwood's favorite establishments will offer a drinkable homage to the twelve days of Christmas. Dubbed the "12 Drinks of Christmas," creative holiday concoctions will be available to drink from 2 p.m. to close as Highwood restaurants and bars celebrate the kick-off to the holiday season. Maps are available for pickup at the Highwood Chamber of Commerce booth located at City Hall Park. The first stop on the 12 Days of Christmas tour is conveniently located at City Hall Park at the Celebrate Highwood booth!
HOLIDAY WINDOW DECORATING CONTEST
Show support of the local businesses! Attendees are invited to stroll the streets of town, to view the holiday window decorations and cast their vote for their favorite at the Highwood Chamber of Commerce booth. Winner will receive a free Highwood Chamber of Commerce membership.
