Autumn is in the air at Morton Arboretum's Glass Pumpkin Patch and the annual Barrington Scarecrow Festival. Here are five ways to spend your time this weekend. For more, see dailyherald.com/calendar.

Glassy gourds

Marvel at all the colorful creations (and maybe buy one) at the eighth annual Glass Pumpkin Patch at the Morton Arboretum, 4100 Illinois Route 53, Lisle. Admission is $15; $13 seniors; $10 kids 2-17. (630) 968-0074 or mortonarb.org. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Oct. 13-15.

Ghost stories

Steel Beam Theatre's timely revival of Irish playwright Conor McPherson's supernatural drama "The Weir" offers the tale of regulars at a rural pub in Ireland who swap spooky stories in an attempt to impress a newcomer. Margo Jones Project

Janus Theatre salutes women theater artists with the monthlong Margo Jones Theatre Project. On stage first is Marsha Norman's "'Night Mother," about the final hour in the life of a troubled young woman. Scarecrow fun

Bob the DJ is set to emcee the annual Barrington Scarecrow Festival featuring free scarecrow, pumpkin and cookie decorating, plus pony rides, games, face painting and more at Memorial Park, Hough and Station streets, Barrington.
