Girls volleyball: Tilly's 12 kills lead Barrington

Senior Peyton Tilly put down 12 kills to help lead Barrington to a 25-22, 25-12 Mid-Suburban West girls volleyball triumph at Conant on Tuesday night.

The Fillies (13-8, 6-1) remained tied for first in the West with Fremd (16-5, 6-1).

Tilly also had 2 digs and 2 blocks while other top performers for coach Michelle Jakubowski's club were Bailey Madrzyk (4 kills, 6 points, 2 digs), Tara Kozak (11 assists), Paige Ramel (3 blocks, 7 kills), Ola Magiera (3 kills), Lauren Carder (1 point, 1 dig), Sabrina Loutos (9 assists, 3 digs, 2 points,) Arianna Armando (6 digs, 1 ace, 9 points), Noelle Daehler (1 kill, 2 blocks) and Mia Ruffolo (6 digs, 3 aces, 4 points).

Conant (8-12, 2-5) was led by Natalie Jurgenson (7 kills), Yuri Hara (5 kills, 8 digs), Jessica Sharp (4 kills), Raelene Roque (6 digs) and Mackenzie Lunkes (6 kills).

Buffalo Grove d. Elk Grove: Claire Ferris put down 7 kills and Lauren Horvath added 4 as Buffalo Grove earned a 25-14, 25-23 to remain tied for first in the MSL East with Hersey.

The Bison (15-8, 6-1) were also led by Abby Kim (3 kills) and Maggie Streckert (2 kills), who also had 19 assists. Kristen Belias led the back row with 17 digs. Nina Masciopinto had 6.

Rachel Kandefer's 6 kills and 4 from Kaitlyn Ingebrigtsen paced the attack for Elk Grove (1-9, 0-7) which received 11 digs from Megan Murray.

Hersey d. Prospect: Hersey won 25-19 25-17 to remain tied for first in the MSL East with a 6-1 record and 16-5 overall.

Kati Kaburov put down 9 kills with an ace, block and 5 digs to help lead the way. Alessia Olhava (12 digs) and Janine Boyan (12 digs) each had 4 kills.

Other key performers for the Huskies were Kate Lubbe (2 kills, 1 block), Juliette Vandenherik (2 kills 1 block), Kaiya Eshoo (19 assists, 3 kills, 1 ace, 5 digs, 1 block) and Maddie Mullin (17 digs, 1 ace)

Prospect (12-10, 3-4) was led on offense by Emma Cogan and Elizabeth Abraham who had 5 kills apiece. Grace Cacini added 3 while Annie Wiley and Sloane had 2 each. Sarah Skaggs handed out 15 assists with 6 digs and 2 aces.

Ashley Adams led the back row with 11 digs while Cogan and Cacini had 9 apiece.

Fremd d. Hoffman Estates: Fremd (16-5, 6-1) remained tied for first in the MSL West with a 25-12, 25-15 win behind 9 kills from Heidi Sayre, 6 from Breslin Reid and 5 from Peyton Hooker. Rian Baker (11 assists) and Lydia Vander Ark (9 assists) set the offense for Fremd.

Ashley Poland has 12 digs for Hoffman (1-14, 0-7).

Palatine d. Schaumburg: The Pirates (13-7, 4-3) were led by Haley Holz (10 kills), Emily Campe (8), Sydney Wiebe (8) and Karina Szafraniec (4) in a 25-13, 25-14 win over Schaumburg (9-11, 4-3). Pirates sophomore Allison Drake handed out 22 assists while teammate Jillian Smith collected 14 digs.

Marist d. St. Viator: Marist won the ESCC match over St. Viator 25-19, 25-13 as the Lions (12-14, 1-4) were led by Vicky Gorny (9 kills), Carrie Leazer (5 kills) and Kate Nottoli (4 kills). Lauren Aldana (13 assists) and Katherine Drab (7 assists) set the attack.

Deerfield d. Maine West: Deerfield won the CSL North match 25-18, 25-27, 21-25 over Maine West (12-10, 4-2) which received 2 aces from Adriana Lopez.

Rock Valley d. Harper: No. 7 Rock Valley earned an 25-18, 25-23, 25-17 triumph over No. 8 Harper.

"We had 9 hitting errors in Set 1 and 12 errors in Set 3," said Harper coach Bob Visloet. "Rock Valley wanted the win more than we did. We need more of a will to win. They had a good-sized crowd cheering them on."
