GOP Fall Rally set for Sept. 16 at Geneva ballpark

On Sunday, Sept. 16, the Western Kane County Republican Organization will host the GOP Fall Rally from noon to 3:30 p.m. at the Kane County Cougars Northwestern Medicine Field in Geneva.

Meet national, state and local candidates in an informal setting and enjoy an old-fashioned ballpark cookout.

The keynote speaker is Erika Harold who is running for attorney general. Harold is a lawyer and criminal justice reform advocate from Central Illinois who put herself through Harvard Law School with funds earned by winning the 2003 Miss America Pageant. She used her visibility as Miss America to promote a national advocacy platform of preventing youth violence and bullying. She currently works as an attorney at Meyer Capel, one of Champaign County's largest law firms, and serves on the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Professionalism, Trinity International University's Board of Regents, and the national board of directors of Prison Fellowship, the world's largest outreach to prisoners and their families.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from and speak with congressman Randy Hultgren (14th District), congressman Peter Roskam (6th District), and Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner. Elected officials attending are state senators Jim Oberweis (25th District) and Don DeWitte (33rd District), state representatives Keith Wheeler (50th), and Jeff Keicher (70th), and Kane County Sheriff Don Kramer. Candidates attending include Darlene Senger (Illinois Comptroller), Jim Dodge (Illinois Treasurer), Jason Helland (Secretary of State), Tonia Khouri (state Rep. 49th District), and Tom Hartwell (16th Judicial Circuit). The emcee is DuPage County Auditor Bob Grogan.

The cookout fare includes hot dogs, brats, hamburgers, chicken, sides, dessert, and beverages. There will be a cash bar. The Kids FunZone will be available, too.

Live auction items include baseballs autographed by Illinois politicians specifically for this event. Silent auction donors include the Big Rock Cafe, Comfort Inn & Suites, Fiora's Restaurant, Pal Joey's, Orchard Valley Golf Course, Preservation Bread & Wine, The Office Dining & Spirits, and more.

The GOP Fall Rally is organized by the Western Kane County Republican Organization. The ballpark is at 34W002 Cherry Lane, off Kirk Road just south of Route 38 in Geneva. The rally will be held in the outfield decks, which offer both sheltered and open sky seating.
