Lake Zurich's Emmaus House of Hospitality begins fundraising drive

Emmaus House of Hospitality in Lake Zurich will be holding its major fundraising drive of the year, a raffle, in conjunction with the upcoming "Rock the Block" celebration in Lake Zurich on Saturday, September 8th.

Those attending the event may bring five non-perishable canned goods, which they can redeem for one free raffle ticket. Last year, more than 600 lbs. of canned food products were donated at Rock the Block for the weekly Emmaus House food pantry. Local Navy recruits will be assisting with the collection of canned goods.

The first raffle prize is a local getaway including lodging at the Hampton Inn, along with gift certificates for local dining, family enjoyment and salon services. This prize has a suggested value of more than $500.

The second raffle prize is a gift basket donated by the Rotary Club of Long Grove, Kildeer and Hawthorn Woods. This prize includes a pair of Rotary Club coffee mugs and a Rotary International cookbook. It also includes wine glasses and several bottles of wine. Finally, it includes several gift certificates to restaurants in Long Grove, Kildeer and Hawthorn Woods. This prize has a suggested value of $250.

The third prize is a fuel efficient, Echo SRM-225 trimmer. This prize has a suggested value of $199. It was donated by ECHO, Lake Zurich.

Volunteers from the organization will be selling raffle tickets at the Lake Zurich Farmer's Market in August at Paulus Park (8/31 and 9/7, from 3-7 PM). They will also be selling tickets after services at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Zurich on the two weekends preceding the event (8/25, 8/26, and 9/1, 9/2). Finally, tickets will also be sold at the event. Tickets are $5 each, 3 for $10, and 7 for $20. The winners will be selected at the Rock the Block event on September 8th. The winners do not need to be present to win.
