100 Women Who Care chapter donates to WINGS

The newly established 100 Women Who Care NW Suburban Chicago chapter continued its communal giving with a recent donation of $8,300 to WINGS Program, Inc.

WINGS provides emergency safe shelter, shared living homes and transitional housing for victims of domestic violence as an alternative to being homeless. In addition to housing, victims receive counseling, emotional and life skills support, career services and much more.

100 Women Who Care meets four times per year. At each meeting, members nominate local 501(c) (3) charities; three are randomly selected to present their charity to the group at the next gathering, and anonymous voting follows.

The selected charity is decided that evening, and each member writes a $100 check directly to the charity. The meeting only lasts one hour, the giving is direct and the power of pooling the donation money is highly impactful.

The next meeting of 100 Women Who Care NW Suburban Chicago is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 10. Time for socializing begins at 6 p.m. and the meeting starts promptly at 7 p.m. The gathering is held at Emmett's Brewing Company, 128 W. Main St., in West Dundee.
