Marion man charged in two Hinsdale home burglaries

A Marion man accused of two separate home burglaries is being held in DuPage County jail on $125,000 bail for each case.

Jeffrey Levin, 59, of the 1400 block of Julianne Drive, is charged with two counts of residential burglary and one count of misdemeanor resisting arrest.

Prosecutors said the victim of one of the burglaries returned to his home on Oak Street at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday to find Levin walking down an interior staircase and carrying a bag. Levin ran away as the victim called 911.

Levin was arrested after a brief chase, which ended with officers Tasing him as he tried to enter Cook County, prosecutors said.

During their investigation, officers also were able to tie Levin to an April 4 burglary on Bodin Street, prosecutors said.

"The allegations that on two separate occasions (Levin) broke into two Hinsdale homes and stole valuables worth thousands of dollars are unacceptable and will be met with the full force of the law" DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a written statement. "In addition to allegedly stealing valuables from his victims, Mr. Levin's actions also robbed his victims of the feeling of safety and security that a home provides."

Levin's next court appearance is scheduled for June 13 in front of Judge Robert Miller.

Anyone with information about either burglary is asked to call Hinsdale police at (630) 789-7070.
