Woman hurt in home invasion near West Chicago

DuPage County sheriff's deputies are investigating an attack against a woman during an early morning home invasion Monday at Ethel Street and Hickory Lane near West Chicago.

Sgt. Robert Harris said deputies are searching for a black man, about 30 to 40 years old and wearing denim pants, who attacked the woman around 5 a.m. in her home.

Harris said the woman was injured in the assault but her wounds are not life-threatening.

Police said the suspect ran through yards west of Ethel Street toward Center Avenue following the attack. They are asking residents to check their yards for anything the suspect may have dropped while fleeing.

Authorities also are asking neighbors to check their home security systems and contact investigators if they observed anyone driving around the neighborhood between 4 and 5:30 a.m. or if they observed a vehicle parked in the area that is normally not there.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at (630) 407-2400.
