Cary man charged with attempted murder after stabbing

A Cary man was charged with attempted murder after, police say, he stabbed someone he knew Saturday night in Fox River Grove.

The 36-year-old victim was in critical condition Monday at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Fox River Grove Police Chief Eric Waitrovich said.

Michael D. Eccles, 60, of the 2400 block of Crystal Lake Road, was being held on $250,000 bail at the McHenry County jail on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery and aggravated domestic battery.

Officers were called about 11:45 p.m. Saturday to the 200 block of Opatrny Drive, Waitrovich said.

McHenry County's Major Investigations Assistance Team is leading the investigation, "and there are still a number of things they are looking into," Waitrovich said.

Eccles is due in court Wednesday.
