Cary man charged with sexual abuse of a minor

A Cary man was charged Wednesday with sexually abusing a girl younger than 13, officials said.

Gerardo Gallaga, 61, of the 400 block of West James Way, charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse following a nearly four-month investigation involving the McHenry County state's attorney's office and the Child Advocacy Center of McHenry County.

In an interview conducted by the center, the victim disclosed that she had been sexually abused, and the subsequent investigation determined that the suspect was Gallaga, officials said.

Gallaga was arrested Dec. 13 and transported to the McHenry County jail, where he posted 10 percent of his $50,000 bond and was released pending trial.
