If you have attended this event in the past, you already know this is a wonderful way to get into the spirit of the upcoming holidays.

Upon viewing the homes, you are invited to sit and have coffee, tea, and sweets with your neighbors and friends, and share new decorating ideas and holiday traditions. The reception will be open during the same hours as the walk, from 2 to 6 p.m.

The house walk and reception are open to the public

Proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to several charities. They have six dedicated homeowners who each have a charity that is close to their hearts, and want to share with you a festive holiday season.

The sponsors for the 2017 Holiday House Walk are: Cruises International and Berkshire Hathaway/Stark Real Estate.

The homeowners have selected the following charities to receive the proceeds from the ticket sales:

• Ronald McDonald House, a haven for families of children undergoing treatment for serious injuries or illnesses at Loyola and other hospitals in the Chicago area.

• Open Medicine Foundation, leading the effort to advance medical research for myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue that follows patterns of success and really benefits from collaboration with leading scientists and clinicians from around the globe.

• Garfield Farm Museum, a nonprofit land preservation organization that preserves the agricultural historic and natural resources of its properties. The museum brings together the farming experiences of the past 150 years.

• Greyhounds Only Inc., a nonprofit Greyhound rescue and adoption group based in northeast Illinois. They take in retired racing greyhounds from all over the world and find them good homes.

• Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the leading global organization funding Type 1 diabetes research. Every dollar is put toward research and comes from donations. Its research is accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat Type 1 diabetes and its complications.

• Great Lakes Greyhound, a nonprofit association, providing a safe and loving home for retired racing greyhound friends located in Indiana.
