Fox Valley Newcomers Club to host informational coffee

The Fox Valley Newcomers and Neighbors Club is hosting an informational coffee at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at All Chocolate Kitchen, 33 S. Third St. in Geneva.

All Fox Valley area residents interested in learning more are encouraged to attend. To RSVP, contact Joyce at (331) 222-7854. Visit www.foxvalleynewcomers.com.

It is a friendly social organization with special appeal to anyone new to the area or with newfound free time. The club's season runs from September to May during which time it holds monthly luncheons at area restaurants and country clubs. Luncheons include a presentation on a variety of topics of interest. Last year, Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns was a featured speaker as well as Ellie Carlson, an entertaining historian, and Alan Roby, an award-winning local celebrity chef. In addition to luncheons, within the club are several special interest groups such as book clubs, crafting clubs, a walking group, breakfast club and more.

The club supports a local charity every year. This year the club will raise funds for Marklund, a residential facility for infants, children and adults with profound developmental disabilities.
