Holy Family Parish Teens present Passion of Christ

The Teen Faith ministry at Holy Family Parish in Inverness, IL will be presenting the Passion of Christ Good Friday, April 14. This annual production brings the Stations of the Cross to life for the congregation.

Members of the Teen Faith ministry have found this an active way to participate and to live their faith. Kay Petrie from Fremd HS plays the Tempter who represents the forces of evil overcome on Easter. She said , "It was unsettling at first to play an evil character opposite Jesus, but that shows people how evil can slowly work its way into our lives and how through Christ we can defeat it." The character of Jesus is portrayed by Devin Dionne also from Fremd H.S. "It is a great responsibility to show Jesus as a human with all his emotions and to work with each member of the cast as we try to re-tell this age-old story with a new perspective."

Hannah Cunningham from Hersey H.S. who plays Mary, the mother of Jesus said, "We all feel that this production is a chance to share our faith with the people of the parish. Even the tech crew shares the sense of a larger mission. Eldar Shanahan from Palatine HS, a leader on the tech crew said, "The techs and PA's all want to keep the play spiritual but use just enough "theater" to build on the passion of the actors."

The Holy Family Teen Passion play will be held on Good Friday at 9:00am, Noon, 3:00pm and 7:30;m. Following each play, will be Veneration of the Cross. Holy Family Parish is located on Palatine Road just west of Roselle Road in Inverness, Illinois.
