Ronald H. Balson is an attorney practicing with the firm of Stone, Pogrund and Korey in Chicago. The demands of his trial practice have taken him into courts across the United States and into international venues. During the early 2000s Ron spent time in Warsaw and southern Poland in connection with a complex telecommunications lawsuit. While in Poland Ron was profoundly moved by the scars and memorials of World War II, which inspired him to write Once We Were Brothers, his first novel. Extensive travels to Israel and the Middle East provided the inspiration for Saving Sophie, his second novel. While on his Once We Were Brothers book tour, Ron met Fay Waldman, a survivor of multiple Nazi prison camps. Her remarkable story inspired and provided the backdrop for Ron's third novel, Karolina's Twins. Ron is hard at work on his fourth.

Glen Ellyn Children's Resource Center (GECRC) was started over a decade ago as a non -profit educational organization. The mission of the GECRC is to provide tutoring and mentoring after school and in the summer to low-income students in Glen Ellyn schools. The Resource Center now serves more than 100 children in three schools- Lincoln Elementary School, Hadley Junior High, and our new 2016 location at Churchill Elementary School.

The program is made possible by the support of individual donors, over 100 community volunteers and organizations as well as grants. As the GECRC continues to grow and expand, there are hundreds more children across School Districts 41 and 89 that qualify for and could benefit from the GECRC programming.

Tickets are $50 in advance or $55 at the door, which includes light appetizers and one drink. Tickets can be purchased at www.gecrc.org or at The Bookstore; 475 N. Main St. Glen Ellyn, Il.

All proceeds will benefit the Glen Ellyn Children's Resource Center. A portion of the money collected will be dedicated to the Churchill Expansion Project.
