Mundelein surveying residents about services, safety
Mundelein residents can tell village leaders how they feel about life in town by completing a survey launching this week.
The 30-question survey asks residents about Mundelein's image, its rebranding efforts and customer service. People also will be quizzed about their satisfaction with the municipal government and services, including the police and fire departments.
"I expect that the results will challenge us and reveal areas we need to improve on," Trustee Holly Kim said.
The survey is available online at adgsurveys.com/survey.html and will be there for several weeks, officials said. Fako Research & Strategies, a Lemont company, is heading the project.
A series of questions asks if the police, fire and public works departments meet residents' expectations. Another question asks if people think police officers care about the residents.
Residents also are asked if they believe Mundelein is as safe or safer than other communities in the Northwest suburbs.
Some randomly selected residents may be chosen for a telephone survey. That version has about 20 questions and should take no more than 15 minutes to complete, Assistant Village Administrator Michael Flynn said.
Village officials expect to receive a report detailing the survey results in six weeks. The survey will cost the village $19,950.
It's been at least a decade since Mundelein officials last did a comprehensive, villagewide survey, Mayor Steve Lentz said. Lentz hopes a lot of residents participate.
"Public input can reveal blind spots that otherwise we could be missing from within village hall ... and also confirm what services we're doing well," Lentz said.
