Schaumburg seeks nominees for Volunteer of the Year

Particularly during a local election season like the one we're in, it's important to remember and acknowledge how reliant the smooth running of a community is on the many volunteers who don't seek name recognition or political power.

The village of Schaumburg has made an annual tradition of doing just that each April, but needs the help of those who already know the contributions of these unsung heroes.

Schaumburg will be accepting nominations through Monday, April 3, in the three categories of its Volunteer of the Year awards - adult individual volunteer, youth individual volunteer and volunteer organization of the year.

Yes, time is short, but the nomination form doesn't take long to fill out and you've probably already thought of any deserving person you know.

The nomination form and more information can be found at the village's Volunteer of the Year website at villageofschaumburg.com/howdoi/volunteer___donate/volunteer_of_the_year.htm.

Information also can be obtained and nominations submitted at the office of Special Events Coordinator Roxane Benvenuti in the Prairie Center of the Arts at 201 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg IL 60193. Her phone number is (847) 923-3605.

All nominees will be recognized and the winners in each category announced at the Volunteer of the Year Awards Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 20, at Chandler's, 401 N. Roselle Road in Schaumburg.
