Dist. 220 candidate withdraws from race

Anissa Cyhaniuk, one of the seven candidates on the ballot for the Barrington Area Unit School District 220 board, says she has withdrawn from the race.

Cyhaniuk said she decided to withdraw from the race because she wouldn't have had enough time to serve if elected.

Despite suspending her campaign, Cyhaniuk completed all the candidacy paperwork properly months ago so her name will still be on the ballot April 4.

The other candidates running for the four open seats are incumbents Penny Kazimier, Sandra Ficke-Bradford and Christopher Geier and newcomers Gavin Newman, Christopher A. Karam and Michael Shackleton. Shackleton first ran for a seat on the board in 2015 but suspended his candidacy before the election like Cyhaniuk did.
