Endorsements: Mundt, Stack for Harper College board
The race for two available six-year terms on the William Rainey Harper College Board of Trustees features two knowledgeable and engaged incumbents and one newcomer. The choice is eminently clear. As board members at Harper, Walt Mundt and Pat Stack have helped oversee one of the most progressive, creative and respected community colleges in the country. The board's relationships with its stakeholders - teachers, administrators, students and the community at large - are strong and well-nurtured. The college's finances are sound, and the board members are well poised to confront the challenges of the future. Mundt and Stack speak knowledgeably and with pride about specific details of Harper programs and initiatives, and they demonstrate independent judgment in evaluating the issues that come before the board. Their challenger, Phil Collins, is a well-intentioned candidate, but to become a viable choice for a board position he needs substantial development in the objectives of a board member and the details of issues facing the institution. We enthusiastically endorse Mundt and Stack.
