Wego Drama to preview contest performances

Wego Drama at West Chicago Community High School continues its season with its Illinois High School Association Showcase performance.

The program begins at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 10 and 11, at West Chicago Community High School, 326 Joliet St., West Chicago.

Two shows will be performed: a 40-minute play and Group Interpretation. Both will be featured in Illinois High School Association competition. IHSA shows deal with serious content and therefore are intended for those age 13 and older. The shows are designed to explore the effects of mistakes people make on their journeys through life.

"These shows will make a person think about the world and hopefully make a difference," Ricky Gieser said.

"IHSA shows are challenging," Andres Espinoza continued. "We are working hard to tell these stories."

"The IHSA shows are very important and need to be seen," Joy Vogt added. "We are hoping that we can make a difference in the world."

"The officers helped select the shows and these are ones we hope that our art changes some perceptions," Nayeli Miguel said. "I guarantee this event is one people will remember."

The company of actors and crew for the show includes Holly Clark, Kenneth Correa, Dylan Davidson, Andres Espinoza and Ricky Geiser from Carol Stream; Grecia Bahena, Nathan Bradley, Abby Carr, Alexia Gountanis, Megan Graal, Noemi Lara, Evy McLean, Jose "Rudy" Muñoz, Alex Weaver and Noah Zieche from West Chicago; and Maggie Clancy, Megan Kordik, Neve Ryan, Connor Thompson, Natalie Thompson and Joy Vogt from Winfield.

The shows are directed by Mark Begovich. Scenic design and technical direction is by Chris Jensen. Hair and makeup is by Jamie Elza.

Tickets are a suggested donation of $10. For information, email Begovich at mbegovich@d94.org or visit wegotheatre.com.
