Chicago attorney Anna Wermuth, co-chair of law firm Cozen O'Connor's Higher Education Industry Practice Group, discusses the increasing demand for outside legal expertise in today's colleges and universities in a recent feature story in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. Wermuth is also vice chair of Cozen O'Connor's Labor & Employment Department.

In an article titled "Who universities bring to the bargaining table," Wermuth shares her perspectives on how private colleges and universities are responding to the ever-evolving landscape of organized labor on campus. Her higher education practice has become increasingly busy as private universities have experienced heightened interest among faculty, students, and staff in organizing.

The article also focuses on the growing interest by outside unions and the National Labor Relations Board in higher education - particularly in the wake of recent decisions by the NLRB involving efforts of graduate students and student athletes to form labor unions, including one of Anna's high-profile cases involving student athletes at Northwestern University.
