Norris Music in the Gallery to feature Lincoln portrayal, Elgin Youth Music Ensembles
Two family-friendly events are on tap during February as the Norris Cultural Arts Center's third annual "Music in the Gallery" series continues providing Sunday afternoon entertainment.
On Sunday, Feb. 5, just in time for Presidents Day, Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln come to life in astonishing realism, personified by Michael Krebs and Debra Miller. "Meeting the Lincolns" is an entertaining and educational performance that will include Q&A and meet-and-greet sessions, sure to delight audience members of all ages.
On Sunday, Feb. 19, the Norris welcomes two of the Fox Valley's most treasured youth musical organizations, the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Elgin Master Chorale Youth Chorus. Representing the EYSO will be two of its honors chamber music ensembles, the acclaimed Maud Powell String Quartet and Earl Clemens Wind Quintet. And the 25-member EMC Children's Chorus will add its voices to a program that presents some of the area's most talented young musicians.
All Music in the Gallery events start at 3 p.m. and conclude between 4:30 and 5 p.m. in the gallery of the Norris Cultural Arts Center, 1040 Dunham Road in St. Charles. Tickets at $15 or $10 for children under 12 are available online through the Norris website, www.norrisculturalarts.com, or by calling (630) 584-7200. Remaining tickets also are available on the day of the programs.
