Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk a Success

The Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk, held on October 16, was a resounding success. Over 175 walkers participated. More than $31,000 was contributed by our neighbors and friends to support the hunger-fighting efforts of Church World Service, both here at home and around the world. Several local agencies-- Northern Illinois Food Bank, the FISH Food Pantry--Carpentersville, BACOA Meals With Wheels, Wauconda-Island Lake Food Pantry, Project HOPE, the People in Need program of the Barrington Area Ministerial Association, and Barrington Giving Day-- will receive 25% of the funds and the remainder will make possible the global work of Church World Service.

Thanks to St. Anne Catholic Community for hosting the event this year and to Laura Cerratani for serving as chairperson. Co Grand-Marshals of the walk were Rich and Kathy Larson and Paul and Adrienne Kalmas, who have all walked in twenty-five or more previous Walks.

Donations can still be made at: www.crophungerwalk.org/barringtonil

Volunteering, walking, donating -- we all have shown that citizens of Barrington and the surrounding area truly are citizens of the world. See you next year at the CROP Hunger Walk, and God bless!
