Join fundraiser for Pinot's Palette owner Oct. 15 at Pinstripes
Join family, friends and other supporters for "Cathie's Cancer Relief Fundraiser" on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Pinstripes in South Barrington.
Cathie Cook, owner of Pinot's Palette in South Barrington, has been battling cancer since 2011. The wife and mother of two is facing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments for cancer that has spread around her lymph nodes and abdominal area.
"I've known Cathie for years, and she is a huge contribution to this planet," said Anita Meyers, a friend and supporter. "We need to stand together to help her in this battle."
In addition to the treatments creating an extremely high health risk for Cook, they also will take a serious financial toll - much of her treatment will not be covered by insurance.
Due to this, a group of people who support her are hosting a fundraiser to help ease the financial burden on Cook and her family. A buffet lunch in planned, along with bocce ball during the fundraiser where 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Cook.
"Cathie continually leads with love in her life; the community benefits from people like her," said Jenel Marunde, another friend and supporter.
The fundraiser will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Pinstripes, 100 W. Higgins Road, South Barrington. Tickets are $40 or $20 for children, age 6-12. Kids under age 5 will be admitted free.
For those who cannot attend, but would like to provide assistance to Cook, please visit a GoFundMe page that was set up for her at www.gofundme.com/cathiecookkickass.
"Our true legacy is showcased in our giving to others," Murande said.
