After Hours Presents Say It In Eight Student Film Festival
The talents of amateur filmmakers from around the world are showcased at the After Hours Film Society's Say It In Eight Student Film Festival.Over 100 films from 15 different countries were submitted by students of varying ages and diverse backgrounds. Once again students were given the extra challenge of creating shorter films: eligible entries were 8 minutes or less in length and had to meet specific criteria in order to be considered. Film educators and professionals were then recruited to serve as our judges. These highly qualified individuals screened each and every film and selected their top choices. What we will see at this special After Hours program is the best in the categories of fiction, non-fiction and animation/experimental, based on level of education, from grammar school though graduate.
"We will be awarding cash prizes to encourage students to continue with their filmmaking," said Debbie Venezia, the founder and executive director of the After Hours Film Society. "Our goal is to support these talented artists and give them an opportunity to further their experience and education.
We were very impressed with the number and quality of entries this year. The technical skills and creativity demonstrated by these aspiring filmmakers is astonishing. I encourage anyone with a curious mind and a sense of humor to come to our program at the Tivoli Theatre on Monday, October 17 and support these emerging artists."
After Hours would like to thank Bob Fritz, John Mostacci and Tony Venezia for serving on our board of judges. These individuals were selected based on their solid background in the world of film. Between them, they possess over 130 years of experience working in film production and education.
We would also like to thank all of those who participated in the 2016 Say It In Eight Student Film Festival and wish you success in your future endeavors. May you forever keep your creative spirit!
Following is a list of winners for the 2016 Say It In Eight Student Film Festival. All films will be screened at a special presentation at the Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland Avenue, Downers Grove on Monday, October 17 at 5:00 PM.
