Advocate Sherman, Brilliance Subaru partner to raise breast cancer awareness via test drives

Advocate Sherman Hospital and Brilliance Subaru of Elgin have teamed up for the month of October to promote breast cancer awareness, prevention and early detection.

Starting Oct. 7 through Oct. 31, for every test drive taken at Brilliance Subaru, the dealer will donate $50 to the hospital's Breast Cancer Fund, up to $10,000.

"We are fortunate to partner with Brilliance Subaru to take our message of breast cancer prevention to the streets, so to speak," said Dr. Rachel Baer, medical director of the Center for Breast Care at Advocate Sherman Hospital. "Funds raised will help us provide free transportation for cancer patients, community programming, free mammograms for at-risk women, and much more."

To launch the promotion, Brilliance will unveil a special car wrapped in pink as part of Sherman's kick-off event for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7. The event, open to the public, will be held at the hospital campus, 1425 N Randall Road in Elgin. Visitors are encouraged to wear pink and invited to participate in the many activities being held to raise awareness for breast cancer prevention and celebrate breast cancer survivors.
