DivorceCare helps restore hope at First Baptist Church of Geneva

No matter what the circumstances, divorce is a painful process for most people. Thankfully there is a special program and support group sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Geneva for people who are experiencing the pain of separation or divorce.

This program, known as DivorceCare, will begin its fall session on Sept. 13. It will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. for 13 consecutive Tuesdays at the church's west campus at 3435 Keslinger Road in Geneva.

"Our church recognizes how deeply people and families are hurt by separation and divorce. We want people to know about our DivorceCare group and what it can do for them," said Mark Claypool, a DivorceCare participant himself six years ago, who is also an area business owner and, for the past five years, co-leader of the group. "It's a place where many people have found they can begin putting their lives back together again. They do so with the help of tools they need to get through their day-to-day lives, gaining restored hope and healing along the way. Over the years we have seen dozens of people benefit from this program here locally, and there have been hundreds of thousands of people participating in this program nationwide."

There is a $15 fee to cover the workbook expense, however financial assistance is available. DivorceCare participants do not need to be members of this or any other church to participate. DivorceCare features nationally recognized experts on divorce and recovery topics. Seminar sessions include "Facing My Anger," "Facing My Loneliness," "Financial Survival," "Kid Care," "Forgiveness," and many more.
