Kids conclude camp with a visit from Bulls player
Under shadows from the banners of six Chicago Bulls NBA titles hanging from the walls at the Bulls/Sox Youth Academy, campers worked on their ballhandling skills, shooting, and other game play skills during a five-day camp in Lisle.
They concluded their camp Friday with a question-and-answer session with Spencer Dinwiddie of the Bulls.
"What I liked best about camp was when visitors came and we got to have two things signed," said Drew Kain, 8, of Naperville.
Dinwiddie, 23, was drafted in 2014 by the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the NBA draft; he was traded to the Bulls in June.
Dinwiddie, who played his college ball at the University of Colorado in Boulder, told the 50 or so camp members how blessed he feels in becoming a member of the Bulls.
"The Bulls were one of the people that liked me most during the draft process, and I really wanted to be here during that time, but the stars didn't align at the time, but now I'm here," Dinwiddie said. "It's a blessing to be here. I'm really happy to be here, and I can't wait for the season to start."
