3 things to watch at the Democratic convention's final night
Thursday marks the end of the Democratic National Convention, after which delegates will join Republicans back at home for the long fight toward the end of the campaign.
After a fractured primary, it's clear who will give the keynote speech. Here's what to watch.
• Hillary Clinton will accept the Democratic nomination for president with a speech that will try to rally voters a week after her rival, Republican Donald Trump, gave his similar address. Her nomination as the first female major party candidate has made history, but with the primary process now over, both parties will be trying to unite with an eye on November. Will she embrace the historic nature of her candidacy in her speech? Will she engage with Trump?
• Before Clinton goes on, her daughter Chelsea is set to speak. She grew up in the public eye when her parents were in the White House, so she'll be a unique convention speaker who is likely to try to tell personal stories about her mom.
• U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth, a Hoffman Estates Democrat, is scheduled to speak, giving Illinois one of its biggest main-stage names of the week. Her race against Republican Sen. Mark Kirk of Highland Park has drawn national attention. Will Duckworth focus on Clinton or her own race?
