Top Republican lawmaker resigns suddenly
State Rep. Ron Sandack, a Downers Grove Republican and vocal legislative ally of Gov. Bruce Rauner, is resigning from the Illinois House after saying he's had "cyber security issues" in recent days. Sandack had been facing a re-election race in November and is well known in Illinois politics for his heavy use of Twitter and Facebook, as well as his role as a floor leader for Republicans in the Illinois House. Firefighters extricate man in crash on Route 53
Elk Grove and Schaumburg firefighters extricated a man from a vehicle yesterday morning, following a one-car crash on southbound Interstate 290/Route 53 near Elk Grove Village. Elk Grove firefighters said the man, who has not been identified, was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with what appeared to be serious injuries. Two accidents, six cars
Shortly after being rear-ended in a crash in Long Grove, a driver smashed into four vehicles waiting to turn at an intersection in Buffalo Grove late yesterday morning, police said. She was extricated from her vehicle and taken to a hospital. Full story.

White Sox suspend Sale for 5 days
The White Sox announced yesterday starting pitcher Chris Sale is suspended for five days after he cut up the 1976 throwback uniforms long scheduled to be worn Saturday night, according to multiple reports.
