Barricade situation ends peacefully in Antioch

An Antioch man police say was armed and barricaded inside a townhouse near Lake Marie yesterday was arrested without any shots fired, officials said. Jacobi Marotta, 37, has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery, two counts of enhanced domestic battery and one count of aggravated assault, according to a news release from the Antioch Police Department. Insanity plea rejected for Arlington Heights man who killed wife

A Racine County judge ruled yesterday that an Arlington Heights man was not legally insane when he attacked and murdered his estranged wife with a hatchet in 2014. Cristian Loga-Negru, 39, faces a sentence of up to life in prison after the judge rejected his claims he was suffering from a mental disease or defect when he killed Roxana Abrudan in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. Naperville police officer Mike Rimdzius feels the bond of brotherhood with the five officers killed in Dallas - not just because they're fellow cops, but because they used to be his colleagues. A Lake County jail inmate who had been accused of attempting to hire a hitman was found dead in his cell with a strap wrapped around his neck yesterday afternoon.
