Many movies and concerts planned for Mount Prospect
Capannari Ice Cream has a lengthy lineup of events planned for this summer, when it is celebrating its 15th anniversary.
The kickoff event of its Concert in the Park series will feature Groundspeed from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 12. Concerts are held in Moehling Park, adjacent to the ice cream shop at 10 S. Pine Street in Mount Prospect.
The inaugural Mooovie Under the Stars of the season will be 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, on the Village Green at Mount Prospect Village Hall, 50 S. Emerson St., and will feature the movie "Minions."
New this year is Acoustic Tuesdays. Starting June 21 and continuing July 5, 19, Aug. 2, 16 and 30, musicians are invited to play alone or with a group at Moehling Park.
And from 4 to 6 p.m. Mondays in July, the store's I-Pledge promotion returns, where kids 12 and under can recite the Pledge of Allegiance for a free kiddie cone.
Zydeco Voodoo will play for the Sunday, June 26, Concert in the Park, when the Capannari's anniversary celebration will feature face painting, crafts and other activities. Other concerts are 6 p.m. Sunday, July 10, Good Mondays Acoustic Duo; 6 p.m. Sunday, July 17, Mulligan Stew; 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, Anderlik, Otto and Church; 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, Chapter1; and 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, Optical Distortion.
Other movies are 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, "Inside Out," and 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, "Mary Poppins."
