Project updates on tap at Conservation Foundation spring luncheon
The Conservation Foundation's Spring Luncheon on Thursday, June 2, will highlight recent achievements of the organization and provide an overview on new projects in the works.
The luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Arrowhead Golf Club, 26W151 Butterfield Road, Wheaton. It also will include awarding the Paul D. Pierotti Memorial Scholarships to this year's recipients.
Some of the highlights of the program include:
• An update on the restoration efforts at the Dayton Bluffs Preserve near Ottawa and a planned opening next year;
• Progress on the Heritage Quarries Recreation Area project in partnership with CITGO Lemont Refinery;
• Status of the Hamill Family Foundation Fox River plan;
• An update on ongoing programs including Conservation In Your Community, Mighty Acorns, and Conservation@Home.
The Paul D. Pierotti Memorial Scholarships are awarded each year through the DuPage Foundation to applicants with an interest in working in the environmental field. This year's recipients are Blake Nelson of Naperville and Margaret Schaub of Downers Grove.
Named in honor of the late son of former DuPage Forest Preserve District President Dewey Pierotti and his wife, Leslie, the scholarship specifies that winners must be associated with the forest district or The Conservation Foundation.
The luncheon is $35 for foundation members, $50 for others. For reservations, call (630) 428-4500, ext. 110, or visit theconservationfoundation.org.
