Eli Skinner, NSDAR, honor the area youth

On Sunday, Feb. 7, at the Palatine Library, the Eli Skinner Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution honored youth for their outstanding efforts.

Receiving the NJROTC Award was Illiana Mendoza from Wheeling High School.

The DAR Good Citizen Awards came from six area high schools: Kristina Dominguez, Buffalo Grove High School; Eric Solberg, John Hersey High School; Karly Grapenthin, Palatine High School; Natalie Brady, Rolling Meadows High School; Erin McDermott, Saint Viator High School; and Guadalupe Vega from Streamwood High School.

These are all excellent students and leaders in their communities and schools.

The American History Essay Award winner was Paul Chiramel from Lincoln Middle School in Mount Prospect. His essay was on the subject of "A Colonial Family's Reaction to the Stamp Act."

The Eli Skinner Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution extends its congratulations to all these students for their outstanding efforts.

The Eli Skinner Chapter NSAR also presented Patrick Thorburn of Rolling Meadows High School the chapter's Outstanding Teacher of American History Award.
