Impressive as a government watchdog

I have known Joe Calomino for over 20 years. His dedication and commitment fighting for fewer taxes and a smaller more accountable form of government has been admirable.

Joe's records of accomplishments as a government watchdog have been impressive. He has exposed waste, fraud and abuse in the state's budget and fought against unnecessary tax increases. More impressively, he worked to pass the first ever online transparency law in the state of Illinois and initiated a lawsuit against former Governor Blagojevich and Senate President Emil Jones for violating FOIA laws.

What really surprises me is that Joe has never held an elected office before. I looked to see if any other candidates in District 5 had a website or other information readily available; none did. Mr. Calomino has a website and Facebook page that clearly articulates his position and background. Again, I am impressed.

The people who live in McHenry County Board District 5 would be very lucky to have Joe Calomino representing their interests.
