Believe Project: $100 for a neighbor facing medical uncertainties
Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Isabella Peckman of Carol Stream.
Here is an excerpt of her story:
"My neighbor friend could use some cheering up and a little financial help. Her husband is being treated for brain cancer and lung cancer. She is at retirement age; he is in his late 50s. He has been unable to work since May when he was hit by a car while coming home from work, then received a cancer diagnosis.
"He is the sole provider for the family that includes two precious dogs. They have been scrambling to find community services for food, health insurance and financial help for rent so they are not evicted.
"She is feeling overwhelmed by all the worry and the extra care that he needs. Will they still have a place to live? Will they have food? Will her husband live? I think $100 could help give some cheer and provide a nice holiday meal."
• The Believe Project is awarding $100 each day in December to a different person with a good idea for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else.
