Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital Hosts Free Health Fair Nov. 14

DOWNERS GROVE - The community is invited to attend Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital's Health Fair on Saturday, Nov. 14.

"The event is a wonderful opportunity for residents to receive free health screenings and tips on how to stay active and healthy," says Dr. Narmadha Kuppuswami, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Good Samaritan Hospital.

The Health Fair will be held from 7:30 am to noon in the Oak Rooms of Good Samaritan Hospital, 3815 Highland Ave., Downers Grove.

The event will include free health tests along with break-out sessions on wellness topics, such as:

• 7:30 to 9 am - blood draw for basic testing (complete blood count, metabolic panel, cholesterol profile with reflex and hemoglobin test for diabetes (HB A1 C). In addition for a fee, patients can add a PSA for men over 50 ($7) and TSH (thyroid) ($3) test to their panel. Fasting is required. A free breakfast will be provided following the blood test.

• 9 to 9:30 am - Your Health as You Gracefully Age

• 9:30 to 10 am - Heart Attack: Is it Different for Men and Women?

• 10 am to noon - Hands-only CPR and AED demonstration by volunteers of Project SMILE (Saving More Illinois Lives through Education), a project through the Chicago Medical Society.

In addition, free osteoporosis screenings will be available from 8 am to 1 pm.
