St. Isidore holds clothing, equipment resale

St. Isidore School's Children's Clothing and Equipment Resale features more than 100 sellers with the goal of raising about $10,000 for the school.

The biannual sale runs 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Ministry Center on the St. Isidore Parish campus, 433 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale.

The clothing resale is part of the school's annual development/advancement initiatives and annually raises about $10,000 in support of St. Isidore School.

This year's fall event features more than 100 sellers offering a variety of gently used children's fall and winter clothing, sizes newborn to 16. Clothing includes Halloween costumes and Christmas outfits, snowsuits, boots and shoes, and school uniforms.

The sale also features maternity clothes and children's toys and equipment such as baby furniture, car seats, strollers, toys, bikes, sports equipment, as well as books and DVDs.

"The clothing resale has grown over the past 17 years to be a very popular and important event for the school and the entire community," said parent volunteer Lisa Conte, who serves as co-chairwoman of the event.

"It takes a tremendous amount of dedicated people to make this event as successful as it has been. But they do it because it is so important for our school and its programs, and allows us to help defray the costs of necessary programming, technology and equipment that the annual operating budget would not be able to fully accommodate without larger tuition increases."

An online system called My Sales Manager is being used to allow consignors to register online, choose a work shift and drop-off time, create and print tags and track sales. Workers can also sign up online, as can school parent volunteers.

Additionally, bar code scanners will again be used to make the checkout process easier and faster for shoppers and volunteers.

Visitors are asked to bring their own bags or shopping baskets to carry items. Additionally, the committee asks visitors to not bring children to the Friday evening sale; they are welcome on Saturday without strollers. Saturday also features pink-tagged items that will be half price.
