Cary Physical Therapist speaks at Cary-Grove's Career Day

Cary, IL - Deb Gulbrandson, physical therapist and owner of Cary Physical Therapy, has been a physical therapist for over 40 years. She spoke at the Cary-Grove High School Career Day Event Sept. 17.

Career Day is an opportunity for seniors to learn more about various careers that they may be interested in pursuing after high school.

Gulbrandson addressed the academic requirements to become a physical therapist - a seven-year program leading to a doctorate in physical therapy. Gulbrandson says, "Job opportunities are plentiful. Although a large number of physical therapists work in hospitals, an even larger amount of physical therapists work in private practices, rehabilitation centers, community health centers, nursing homes, home health agencies, corporate or industrial health centers, sports facilities, research institutions, schools, pediatric centers, as well as colleges".

"One of the main points that I wanted to stress to the high school students today is that physical therapy is such a diverse and satisfying career. The profession of physical therapy has allowed me to work in a multitude of settings from hospitals, business and industry, home care, universities, and pediatric settings," Gulbrandson said. "All of my past work experiences have helped me to be a better therapist. I feel privileged to help my patients achieve their goals."
