Addison man pleads guilty to soliciting teen on Facebook

An Addison man who contacted a Wheeling teenager on Facebook to engage in sexual activity pleaded guilty to indecent solicitation Thursday.

In exchange for his guilty plea to the class 2 felony, Juan Guerra, 27, was sentenced to 30 months probation and 120 days in jail, receiving credit for 58 days in custody. Cook County Judge Thomas Fecarotta also fined Guerra $1,194 and ordered him to register as a sex offender, court records show.

The 14-year-old girl, who is autistic, opened a Facebook account last summer with her parents' permission, prosecutors said during Guerra's July bail hearing.

Guerra sent the girl a friend request, which she accepted. Guerra, who told the girl he was 20, asked her via instant message if she would like a boyfriend. The girl, who prosecutors said told Guerra her age, accepted. They exchanged photographs, she gave him her address and he gave her his phone number, prosecutors said. After Guerra sent her instant messages of a sexual nature, she informed her parents, who called police.
