New public works director

Paul Kendzior, village engineer in Northbrook, will succeed John Heinz as public works director in Libertyville. Heinz, who was hired in 2007, will retire Nov. 5. Village officials said Kendzior was among 30 applicants. He is a licensed engineer and a certified flood plain manager. Before joining Northbrook, Kendzior served in various positions with consulting engineering companies. He has a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla. His appointment by the village board is scheduled for Sept. 8, and he will begin work Oct. 19.
