Schaumburg Library to Hold Blood Drive

A blood drive is slated from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26, in the Rasmussen South Room of the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd. The Library is once again joining forces with LifeSource to help replenish dangerously low blood supplies. To donate, sign up online at lifesource.org and use sponsor code J94, or call Stefanie Lubash at (847) 923-3117.

To give blood, potential donors must meet the following criteria:

• Weigh at least 110 pounds.

• Be in good physical health

• Be at least 17 years old (there is no upper age limit).

• Have not given blood in the past eight weeks (56 days).

For detailed information on eligibility, go to lifesource.org/donate-blood/eligibility. Additionally, donors should stay hydrated and eat healthy foods in the days prior to the blood drive. Registering to donate will require a driver's license or other photo ID.

Blood transfusions are used for cancer, car accidents, hip replacements, liver transplants, anemia, ulcers and more. Those who have questions about blood donations can find many answers at www.lifesource.org.
