Crystal Lake man charged with supplying fatal heroin dose
A Crystal Lake man has been charged in the drug-overdose death of a McHenry woman, officials said.
Herman B. Trigg, 31, of the 300 block of Ambassador Circle, was charged with drug induced homicide and is being held on a $2.5 million bond, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
Police were called April 4 to the 3100 block of West Lincoln Road, McHenry, where the 29-year-old woman was found dead, officials said. The investigation was turned over to the sheriff's office's Narcotics Task Force.
During a four-month investigation by the sheriff's office Narcotics Task Force, detectives determined the woman may have ingested heroin before she died, officials said, and Trigg is accused of supplying the drug.
Trigg was taken into custody Friday at his home, officials said.
He previously had been arrested on several drug charges during a sting operation on April 6, officials said. At that time, he was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
Trigg's next court date is July 29.
