Gun owners seek equal justice, too
The rational in the decision by the Roberts Court supporting the Affordable Care Act is significant beyond the ACA law.
The majority determined that the actual legislated words in the statute were secondary to the "intent" to provide health insurance for all. The clear "intent" of the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States was for individuals to have the right to defend themselves from an oppressive government and others and from infringement.
I was further encouraged by the Supreme Court decision on gay marriage and the significant reference to "Equal Justice under Law" that is incised on the Supreme Court building in Washington, D.C. As a member of the community of individual Americans who exercised their individual constitutional right to legally own guns to defend themselves and their families, I am heartened by the stated rational in these decisions.
Federal and state government officials who establish oppressive gun control rules and regulations infringe on my Second Amendment rights. Legal gun owners seek "Equal Justice under Law" the same as illegal immigrants, homosexuals and other minority groups.
