Winners named for Huntley's 'Then and Now' photo contest

The Huntley History Alliance recently completed its second annual event highlighting the rich history of the Huntley area.

Amateur photographers were invited to participate in the 2015 historic photo contest to highlight Huntley's history.

Entries included a current photograph and a vintage photograph of the same historically significant Huntley area buildings, structures, or landscapes.

The current photograph was judged based on its photographic elements.

All ages were eligible to participate and submissions were judged in May during "Look at Local History Month" events.

Winners were announced at the Huntley Farmer's Market on May 23.

In the Adult Division, the first-place winner is Amy Rizzo, with Todd Weber taking second and third place.

In the Youth Division, the first-place winner is Aliviah Sommer, Evan Reincke in second, and David Sommer in third place.

Thank you to event sponsors Huntley Park District, Huntley Area Public Library, Huntley Historical Society, and the village of Huntley Historic Preservation Commission.

These groups work together as the Huntley History Alliance to preserve and celebrate Huntley history.

Special thanks to judges Tom Hughes, Norm Kopp and Mary Manning for their time and efforts.

A donation from TCF Bank of Huntley branch manager Jorge Escudero made this project possible and prizes available for winners of the contest.

This is the second year TCF Bank has donated to the Huntley History Alliance for the "Look at Local History" contest.
